A great majority of digital cameras now work on simple ‘click and snap’ usability features, however it’s very often that you come across huge price differences between various camera models due to the technical specifications. There is a great of knowledge to be learned about if you are beginner and would like to take pictures like a pro, but here we are discussing more general features commonly found in rather non so pro digital cameras.

SLR or DSLR

SLR stands for Single Lens Reflex. It was a feature that is used by professional photographers. This feature allowed the professional photographers to see the final image before the shot is taken. Only expert photographers would know how to tinker and take better shots. This SLR feature has now become DSLR which is just the computerized version of the same feature and does exactly the same job and provide extra control over your output.

Megapixels

You might this term quite a lot as being a selling point for most digital cameras. The term Megapixel stands for ‘Million Pixels’. Every picture is comprisedof several million tiny pixels so the more pixels your camera has the better details you can expect from the final picture.

Digital Zoom

The term digital zoom is often misunderstood and taken a serious compliment whereas the digital zoom does not work as a manual zoom camera lens which means
the digital zoom only electronically stretches the picture size and make the output loose quality. Whereas the manual zoom lens feature in many digital cameras actually enlarge the zoom and do not compromise on the image quality.

ISO

The term ISO could mean so may more things such as ‘International Standardization Organization’ but in the world of photography in means how sensitive a camera is to light. A camera with an ISO range of 100 or below can be considered poor quality as it will not perform in high and low lighting conditions.
